Sections A & B have performed the best for the first 45 round of the competition with Sergey Zhdanov of Team Russia catching16 fish from section B.

Russia lead the way in this first round with a total of 20 fish.

Slovakia are currently in first position with 36, Russia 33, Italy 26

The qualifying event will be fished on the the Railway Bank of the North Lake, Craigavon Lakes, Craigavon, Co Armagh. This is one of the two sections to be used in the World Championships. 

The lake already has a natural stock of pike, perch and trout. For the two qualifying days the section being used will be stocked with 1,000 x 600g farmed Rainbow Trout.

The qualifiers will be fished over two days with 4 x 45 minute sessions on each day. Competitors will receive points based on number of fish caught in each of these sessions. Only pike, perch and trout will be counted, all fish will score 1 point each. No fish will be weighed or measured all fish will be returned immediately to the water.

The top 6 anglers from the qualifiers will form the 6 man Ireland Team for the World Championships. The top 4 anglers will receive tackle & equipment prizes from Duo Hook/Pontoon 21.
