The National Coarse Fishing Federation of Ireland (NCFFI) invites you to participate in the 6th World Championships for Boat Fishing with Lures, which will be hosted on the River Erne around the town of Enniskillen on the 9-14 October 2013. The World Championships will be organised by the committee of the National Coarse Fishing Federation of Ireland.
The Upper and Lower Erne system is situated in County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland, covering an area of some 15,000 hectares and is 60km long. The Lough has an abundance of fish and it is noted holiday destination for Angling Tourism particularly for its Predator Angling for Pike.
In recent years the Waterway’s Ireland World Pike fishing Classic has recorded a number of Pike weighing over 10kgs, with the average fish being in the region of 3.5kgs. During the World Championships in mid-October 2013,
Only Pike and Perch will count in the World Championships
Although Trout and Salmon are present in the Erne they are out of season in October and therefore if the are caught they will not be counted also it is not required to fish with Barbless hooks on the water
The competition stretch will be centred around the headquarters Hotel for the event the four star Killyhevlin Hotel and riverside chalets, this hotel is located on the river about 2km from the town centre of Enniskillen.
The National Coarse Fishing Federation of Ireland (NCFFI) represents anglers and their clubs on the Island of Ireland and was formally established in 1962 and at the same time became affiliated member of CIPS Tourism. The NCFFI has hosted a number of World Freshwater Angling Championships, 1968 on the River Blackwater in Fermoy, Co Cork, 1982 the Newry Canal, Newry, Co Down, 1992 the Erne, Enniskillen, Co Fermanagh.
