All credit to the juniors for representing their province, some of whom had fished the All Ireland Championships the day before, and others for whom it was only their second match. It was an enjoyable day for everyone. Our juniors are the future of our sport.

The Provinicial Council present teams at the championships annually with the event taking place the day after the junior championships on the same venues providing a weekend’s fishing for all taking part.  The Junior All-Ireland and the Inter-Provincial Championships will take place over the weekend of the 27th & 28th August in 2016.

NCFFI Junior All-Ireland Championships

Forty Seven of our up and coming young anglers braved the blustery conditions at Lough Garadice, Ballinmore, Co. Leitrim to be within with a chance of becoming All-Ireland Champion for their age group. The championships attracts entries from juniors of all abilities with a novice category for those who need a little help on the bank, the U14’s, U18’s and for the first time in 2015 an U23 category.

Fishing was tough for many of the competitors but the highlight of the day was Harry Whitehead, Erne Anglers and this years U18 Champion with 14.430kg of proper Irish Bream from Cully’s Shore.

Eoin Rodgers, Carrickmacross Coarse Angling & Junior Development Club, picked up the U14 title for the second year running.

Top of the Novice section was local angler Erin Bohan with Hayden Kelliher taking the U23 crown from a very tough Haughton’s shore.

The juniors were presented with trophies and top tackle prizes from a variety of sponsors to include Tubertini UK Ltd, Sensas Ireland, Range River Mountain, Southside Angling and Lakelnds Angling, Ballinamore who hosted the event.  Thanks to Irish Bait & Tackle and Sensas Ireland who gave each competitor complimentary bait for the day.

The NCFFI would like to thank all who turned up and took part, many travelling long distances to be there, in what was again another great turn out for Ireland’s premier junior Coarse Angling championships!

The junior championships will take place on the 27th August in 2016 – venue to be announced.
