LOUGH MUCKNO
Lough (Lake) Muckno covers an area of 425 hectares spotted with islands and is a fully developed angling amenity serving the Northeast of Ireland. The lake measures about 4 km (2.5 mi) long and 1.0 km (0.6 mi) wide. It flows out to the Clarebane River, which connects the lake to nearby Lough Ross.
The championships will feature fishing at five of the developed sections known as White, Yellow and Black Island and Upper & Lower Concra Wood. The lough reaches depths of up to 20 metres with fishing generally 5-7m at the islands and 3-4m at Concra Wood. Platforms will be required to access the water.
This natural angling facility allows for parking in bays close by. Access will be restricted to two vehicles per team.
FISH SPECIES
The lake holds large stocks of fish to include quality roach, bream, rudd, hybrids, tench and perch. Other species such as trout and pike are not counted in this competition. It is forbidden to catch Eel, they must be released to the water immediately and not placed in keep nets.
The keep-net mesh cannot exceed 10 mm x 10 mm. The keep-net shall have either a minimum diameter of 40 cm for the round ones or a minimum diagonal of 50 cm for the rectangular ones and a minimum length of 3.5 metres; it shall be positioned underwater for at least 1.50 metres during the entire competition.
