As the NGB for coarse and predator angling and casting sport we work with our partners Sport Ireland, Sport NI and Sport Ireland Coaching to support all initiatives and introduce new.
Coaching the individual to support others
Express your passion for angling and become actively involved in the development of others. Coaching to improve people’s enjoyment and their health and well-being as well as your own. Coaching is rewarding!
Introducing novices and juniors to the sport
We run national events specifically for juniors including novice categories where our trained coaches provide advice and support. We encourage newcomers to angling running a successful Schools Competition in Northern Ireland and even a three day summer school during the holidays.
Identifying and mentoring members to represent Ireland on the world stage
All members and members of clubs, senior and junior have the opportunity to progress to international level. We identify participants with potential by observing at national events and provide a pathway of competition angling at club, provincial and national level.
Fishery Development
The NCFFI is experienced in developing access to fishing for its members working alongside our partners. At the most basic level we supply clubs and members with Public liability letters of indemnity for fishery owners. These are supplied by our Insurance Brokers to named owners. Owners such as Waterways Ireland, ESB, and IFI have been satisfied by these letters as well as funders like local councils and LEADER partnerships.
At the next level up NCFFI has negotiated and supported management agreements on fisheries between owners and local clubs. These have given clubs significant levels of control while ensuring owners have a say in the running of the fisheries.
Beyond this we have negotiated leasing of fisheries for our clubs. These leases give a great deal of control over to the clubs and may be essential for funding to improve the resources.
If you have a venue that would benefit by development or just needs opening up to anglers, contact us and we can help facilitate.
