The Importance of Coaching
The NCFFI recognises the importance of coaching in the future of our sport. A structured coaching approach delivered by the tutors mean that future generations of anglers will be coached in a manner that will benefit the angler and the sport. The individual angler can use the angler pathway to be coached to whatever level of participation they so wish. Any individual whose role will have regular contact with children or vulnerable persons in the provision of relevant services must have vetting in place and complete safeguarding training.

NCFFI Coach Qualification
In 2020 the NCFFI designed, developed and piloted the NCFFI Coach programme accredited by Sport Ireland. A structured coaching approach delivered by our tutors mean that future generations of anglers will be coached in a manner that will benefit the angler and the sport.
We have a blended approach to delivery that includes three on-line sessions of two hours and a final day together in the classroom with some practical sessions on the bank.
Together with Sport Ireland Coaching the NCFFI have agreed a mechanism for recognition of coaching qualifications certified in prior learning environments.
Graduated from the Coaching Ireland Course at Limerick University our panel of tutors supported by instructors provide representation in various disciplines.
Introductory Level Coaching Course
This provides you with the entry disciplines required to supervise anglers of all ages on the bank. We open debate on adult learning styles, motivation and the role of the coach. The concept of structured learning, reflection and feedback systems is introduced along with sessions on child and vulnerable adults welfare, disability and health & safety.
Coach Professional Development Training Modules
Angler Skills Awards, covering all aspects of the deliver of the AS pathway.
Coaching Anglers with a Disability, essential for the safe supervision of those with special needs
Water Safety Training, another must have for those supervising events on the water. Classroom sessions on risk assessment and management include a detailed review of bouyancy aids followed by a practical to include defensive swimming, throw rope rescue and safe wading protocols.
Level One Programme
Only coaches with a track record of participation in angling coaching who carry out the Coach Professional Training CPD will be considered for this advance level course.
Angler Skills Awards
Qualified coaches have access to the NCFFI Anglers Skills Awards, a six-step pathway with certification at each level designed to introduce novice anglers to a lifelong passion for angling sport. This structured programme provides session sheets for consistency in coach delivery across the island.
The individual angler can now use the angler pathway to be coached to whatever level of participation they so wish.
