INNISCARRA LAKE

Widely regarded as one of Ireland’s premier freshwater fishing destinations, Inniscarra Lake is a man-made reservoir covering approximately 300 hectares. Located along the River Lee in County Cork, it was created in the 1950s following the construction of the Inniscarra Dam by the Electricity Supply Board.

A long-standing favourite among anglers, Inniscarra Lake has since evolved into a world-class angling venue. It has hosted the World Feeder Championships in 2014, the World Youth Angling Championships in 2017, and numerous other international competitions, including a series of Irish angling festivals held throughout the year.

SECTIONS

The 2025 Championship will feature fishing across up to five sections, including the Coachford Greenway (Sections A to D) and two additional venues (Section E) both within easy reach of Coachford Village. Final placements for Section E will be determined based on the number of entrants.

A-D COACHFORD GREENWAY

The Coachford Greenway is a 2.8 km linear park situated along the Inniscarra Reservoir. Developed in 2014 as a multi-purpose amenity, it was a collaborative effort by Inniscarra Lake Tourism Development Ltd, the National Coarse Fishing Federation of Ireland, the Electricity Supply Board (ESB), Inland Fisheries Ireland, and Cork County Council and is now a well established world class fishery.

The Reservoir plays a crucial role in supplying water to Cork City and its surrounding areas and water levels are carefully managed but can vary. Usually you can expect the average depth to be 4.5 metres at a distance of 13 metres from the bank.

Vehicular access is carefully managed to maintain safety for walkers and cyclists. Parking is in allocated bays close to the swims to ensure access to emergency vehicles. Access will be restricted to two vehicles per team with medium size short wheel-base vans more suited to the venue.

E GARDEN CENTRE & GRAVEYARD

Section E will be split across two venues on the Reservoir: The Garden Centre where depths reach up to 2 metres and the slightly deeper Graveyard with depths are up to 3.5 metres.

FISH SPECIES

The lake holds large stocks of fish to include quality roach, bream, rudd, hybrids, tench, carp and perch. Other species such as trout and pike are not counted in this competition. It is forbidden to catch Eel, they must be released to the water immediately and not placed in keep nets.

The keep-net mesh cannot exceed 10 mm x 10 mm. The keep-net shall have either a minimum diameter of 40 cm for the round ones or a minimum diagonal of 50 cm for the rectangular ones and a minimum length of 3.5 metres; it shall be positioned underwater for at least 1.50 metres during the entire competition.

ANGLING FESTIVALS
