WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP BOAT QUALIFIERS

The entry fee is €50 per boat per day. Monies raised go to the travelling team to supplement NCFFI funding.
All contestants are asked to be on site to register before 8am.
Briefing 8-8.45am
Boats will be subject to washing prior to launch.
Fishing will be from 9am to 4pm
Maps of the competition fishing areas will be provided to those who apply.
Qualification
Eligibility
To take a part you must be a member of any NCFFI affiliated club and hold an Irish or UK & Northern Ireland passport. FIPS-ed Eligibility Rules apply. Only one non-national/passport holder is entitled to be on the team providing he/she has been residing in Ireland for more than five years. Non members may join the Predator Club on the day for €25 annual membership .We request that anglers bring along their NCFFI membership cards for inspection.
The Team Managers is authorised by the NCFFI to select teams in accordance with the relevant Selection Process as defined by event in the Protocol & Policy document.

Scoring
Qualifiers will be fished to FIPS-ed rules but incorporating the Measure – Photo – Release process.
Anglers will fish in pairs for pike and perch only which will be measured, recorded by photograph and returned immediately to the water. One point will be awarded per cm for pike and perch and summed up to the square cm per fish. i.e. A pike of 76cm in length will equal 5776 points and a perch 27cm in length will equal 729 points. Only the 20 biggest fish of any combination of pike and perch will count regardless of the species.
The ranking shall be made based on the points obtained (expressed in square cm), and by summing up the square of the length of each fish caught by the two anglers making up the pair. The pair with the highest number of points will be awarded 1 penalty point, 2nd 2 and so on. The penalty points will be added together for the six qualifiers and the top 2 eligible pairs (4 anglers) will be selected plus 2 reserves who will act as stewards/delegates to form part of the championship team.
In the case of absence at one or more of the qualifiers the said pair(s) will receive the last position for the day and will be awarded the lowest postion and penalty points based on the number of pairs who took part plus 1. i.e. if there are 10 pairs in attendance that day the absent pair(s) will receive 12 penalty points to take forward to the next round.
Should you be selected for the team you agree that you can attend the championships (specify which) and practice events as required and can partake in travel overseas understanding that some costs will be at your own expense over and above the funding provided to the team by the NCFFI.
Competition Rules
The National Coarse Fishing Federation of Ireland supports Catch & Release in all angling disciplines whether this be for sport or recreation. Fish welfare and the safety of our competitors is paramount especially when angling from a boat.
For these qualifiers we will therefore introduce Measure – Photo – Release our preferred method for recording catches using a board/mat to measure the length of a fish recording the results by camera. This makes for more accessible qualifiers eliminating the need to provide stewards.
