All Ireland Youth Feeder Championships

A different style of fishing on Saturday 12th October for the Lower River Bann, as the All Ireland Youth Feeder Championships was played out on Mid Ulster’s coarse angling facility at Portglenone.

The competition to identify the best youth feeder anglers awards those in the categories U15 and U25 with trophies & medals plus rods & reels from Tubertini UK LTD. It also serves as an opportunity for International Feeder Manager Brenton Sweeney to identify future senior team members.
The pegs at the enhanced ‘bridge’ section of the Mid Ulster District Council facility produced weights of roach and some perch from a fast river running almost clear.
Charlie Richards, Oakland’s Coarse Angling Club had the top weight of the day with 3.980kg to win the U15 section. In second place was Jay Taylor with 1.820kg and third Harry Speers 1.440kg.

ERNE Anglers Paddy Connolly wins the U25 category with 2.929kg, followed by Jordan hall with 2.360kg and in third Aaron Galbraith with 2.060kg.
Well done to all those who took part and thanks to East Belfast Coarse Angling Club members Derek Buckley, John Taggart and Mark Alcock for their help, and DAERA Inland Fisheries for sponsoring licenses for the day. Everyone enjoyed refreshments after the match.
