All Ireland Canal Championships
Sunday 24th of April saw 25 anglers take to the bank of the Grand Canal near Sallins the annual All Ireland Canal Championships. After a break of two years the match returned as a one-day event attended by anglers across from across the provinces. It was a tough but enjoyable day on the bank, the fishing was poor and several anglers blanked. This may have been due to a strong easterly wind and the bright sunshine. The long stretch of canal was coloured with the fish moving and hard to target.
Sensas Ireland angler Codin Jurj, the 2019 runner-up managed to land over 11lbs of very large roach to easily win the 5 hour match and take the title. In second place was John Connolly and in third, Paul Kelly.
Section prizes were awarded to Hugh McKernan, Pat Bartley, Gary Rogers and Peter Turner.
