After a gap of a number of years, the – is back in 2026, with the aim of rebuilding it into an annual event on the national calendar.
The NCFFI National Committee tasked Leinster representative Dean Murray with coordinating this year’s one-day championship, giving our young anglers the opportunity to experience provincial team fishing in a friendly but competitive environment.
To help get the event firmly re-established, the format for 2026 has been opened up as widely as possible. Teams of four anglers are invited, with each province welcome to enter as many teams as they can field.
All participating anglers must be under 18 on 31st December 2025.
Provincial Councils have been free to select their teams using the process they consider most appropriate. The only requirement is that participating anglers are members of an NCFFI affiliated club within the province they represent. Anglers do not necessarily have to reside within that province.
The championship will be fished on a section points system in accordance with NCFFI competition rules, providing valuable experience of the team format for young anglers as they continue their development within the sport.
A National Trophy will be presented to the winning province, with medals for the successful team anglers.
We hope this first event will provide the foundation for the Youth Inter-Provincial Championship to once again become a regular fixture, offering as many young anglers as possible the chance to represent their province, experience team competition and build valuable experience for the future.
