Coarse and Predator Angling Community support for Ukraine
In a gesture of solidarity to the people and fellow anglers of Ukraine the Committee of the National Coarse Fishing Federation of Ireland agreed unanimously at a meeting of 1st March 2022 to support a ban on Russia and Belarus in International competition. The NCFFI will not enter a team in any CIPS/FIPS championships or compete alongside individuals or teams from Russia or Belarus at the said events until further notice.
Subsequently the NCFFI welcomes the decision taken by Confédération Internationale de la Pêche Sportive who in accordance with the recommendations of the Olympic Committee has placed a temporary ban on the participation of anglers from Belarus and Russia, teams and clubs at any CIPS or FIPS (Freshwater, Fly or Sea) World Championships.
The NCFFI wishes no hostility to the angling communities of Russia and Belarus but must make this stand in line with other sports whilst the invasion of the Ukraine continues.
