The banks were full at Oaklands lake last week as NCFFI coaches from Waterford DCAC and Oaklands CAC came together to provide a fishing taster to transition year students from Good Counsel College in New Ross. The 120 young anglers were coached in small pods allowing for just a two-hour fishing experience and an introduction to the NCFFI Anglers Skills Programme over two days.

Thanks to the Inland Fisheries Outreach officers who partnered with our coaches to ensure the day was a great success, providing caps along with goody bags for everyone.
The NCFFI has produced a set of guidelines to help clubs coach safely in these sensitive times and would be happy to hear from coaches interested in delivering the Anglers Skills Awards Programme. In addition Dormant Account Fund grants are currently available to support clubs in Ireland with the equipment they need to introduce our youngsters to angling.
