The World Club Qualifiers took place over te weeked of 24th & 25th of July and concluded with a points tie between two of the hosting club teams. BSI Sensas Black and Green both finished the two-day event with 27.5 points, leading to a weight decider with the former just a kilo ahead. After a good day two performance the Erne Anglers A team finished behind them with 37.5 just 3 points ahead of BSI Sensas White.
CONGRATULATIONS go to the winning team of Enda Hickey , Cathal Hughes, Joe Nolan, Alin Alphidean and Gary Doyle and BSI Sensas AC who are once again the holders of their founder ‘Bobby Smithers’ Cup. The club will represent Ireland at the FIPSed World Club Championships in Belgium next year.
The weekend event saw 40 anglers representing five clubs from across the island fish the Grand Canal at Daingean. Low water levels saw concessions made for fish welfare, who were understandably not biting in the bright conditions, but with everyone keen to be back to competitive angling it was hotter on the bank!
Well done to all the competitors, ERNE Anglers, Oakland’s Coarse Angling Club, BSI Sensas, Fermoy AC, Browning Fishing Ireland. Special thanks goes to the BSI club for their preparation of the venue and hosting of this year’s event.
